South Beach is a very popular public access lawn area located on the iconic St Kilda esplanade. A stone’s throw away from Luna Park and the Palais Theatre, this lawn is heavily used by beach goers and is home to the main stage for the annual St Kilda Festival.
The key challenge here was how to keep a Kikuyu lawn in good condition even when you have 400,000 people party on it over one weekend!
The Kikuyu alone was not strong enough to support the amount of foot traffic it was exposed to over the weekend.
After reviewing the damage from foot traffic on the Kikuyu lawns it was agreed that XtraGrass was the best solution.
The areas were prepared and the maxi rolls installed into the mainstage and entrance areas.
