Founded in 1970, the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens is a 56-hectare open space, offering a variety of environments, including the largest selection of Australian native rainforest trees in Australia.
HG Turf Group agreed to work with the Brisbane City Council, via the Better Brisbane Program, supporting the needs of the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, to improve turf areas within the Gardens that had become constantly worn due to the high use of the gardens rest areas each year.
Council’s grounds team at Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens had each year replaced turf from around the lake sitting areas as these were the most used, having over 5,000 visitors each month. This closed off the areas during peak periods that would limit this areas usage annually.
Brisbane City Council engaged HG Turf Group to install CoverLawn as the best solution for this high foot traffic area. New Turf was laid prior to CoverLawn being installed. CoverLawn was then installed after the grow-in period. CoverLawn now protects the natural turf, alleviating the bare and muddy patches, creating a safe stable natural grass area year-round.
CoverLawn is maintained by the Mount Coot-tha grounds team, with the same practices as natural turf. CoverLawn provides the best of both world’s – natural grass combined with synthetics.
Our staff are experts in the turf industry and are ready to discuss your requirements for your next project with you.
